Charlotte Joan Hendrix joined our Lord on July 10, 2020. She will be greatly missed by her dear friends and family. Joan is the daughter of Truman A. Holley and Gertie Lee Holley and was born on December 29,1934. She married the love of her life, Otis L. \"Butch\" Hendrix after meeting him at the White Squirrel Cafe in Maud Texas. They were married in 1955 and a few years later moved to Mansfield.
Joan attended Texarkana College and graduated with an Associate\'s Degree in Fine Arts. While attending college, she was a member of a social club called \"The Blue Jackets.\" In 1955, she was voted Miss Texarkana College and \"Most Outstanding Student.\" Joan continued with her education while managing her family in the late 1980\'s. Charlotte Joan Hendrix graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Art\'s Degree in Elementary Education in 1986. She received her Master\'s Degree of Education in 1989. Joan taught 8th grade English and Reading for many years then dedicated her talents to become a Reading Specialist working one on one with students with reading disabilities. Joan was an active member of the Mansfield community. She served as President of The DeSoto Department Club, member of the Bon Chasse Chapter of the Daughter\'s of the American Revolution, member of the Mansfield Chapter of Zi Beta Nu of Beta Sigma Phi, member of The DeSoto Hospital Auxillary, Children\'s Director of the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield for 10 years, member of the Board of the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, and member of the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield.
Joan loved cooking, quilting, and people. No one ever left Joan and Butch\'s home hungry. She is survived by her sister Mary Holley Rose; son Joey Hendrix; daughter Holley Hendrix Bissett, son- in -law Joe Bissett; daughter Mary Lee Hanemann and son- in -law Robert Hanemann; grandchildren Joseph Cole Hendrix, Gunner Dillon Hendrix, Maxwell Louis Hanemann and Nash Robert Hanemann; great grandchildren Jackson, Artemis and Lena Hendrix; niece Allison Rose and her husband, Darren Hoppa, and their children Jett Artemis and James Basilius.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to he First United Methodist Church in Mansfield.
Visitation will be held July 31, 2020 beginning from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Rose Neath Funeral Home Mansfield LA. Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, 11:30am , August 1,2020.
