SHREVEPORT, LA - Charlotte was born at home on August 12, 1936 in Flat Rock, IL, in Crawford County. She had many jobs in her career life; her favorites including being a server at Howard Johnson's, a factory worker at General Electric, and an admissions clerk at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, where she received the "May I Help You" Award for excellence in service.
Charlotte graduated from Robinson High School in 1954. After she retired, she was an avid volunteer as a literacy instructor. She dressed and repaired dolls to give to local nursing homes, bringing joy to many residents. During her breast cancer recovery in 2010, she hand-made earrings and handed them to likely, 100's of women, with the reminder to get a mammogram. She attended the race for the cure annually, and was known to wear her pink wig and clown makeup.
She will be missed by many family and friends, especially by her loving daughter, Leona, and granddaughter, Tonya. They had the pleasure of experiencing every adventure throughout most of her life. She passed away peacefully on May 18, 2017 in the early morning.
The family wishes to thank: Dr. and Mrs. Krishna Singh, Dr. Anil Chhabra, Dr. Chip McDonald, Dr. Christopher Sockrider, and the Nursing Staff at Willis-Knighton South, Second Floor.
