With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Cheryl Wallace Miller, 62. Our most beloved fiancé, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, was called home following a courageous battle against cancer on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Cheryl was born on Monday, December 19, 1960 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late James Delane and May LyVonne Wallace.
Cheryl attended Southwood High School, studied upholstery at Louisiana Technical College, and enjoyed working within the music industry. She had a passion for music, whether she was listening, singing or falling for the boy in the band. Cheryl loved butterflies, dancing, sitting on the back porch listening to wind chimes, and the calming effects of a good storm. She was an amazing friend who put everyone before herself and enjoyed helping others. Her girls were her greatest accomplishment, and her grandchildren were her whole world. She was always the life of the party and loved spending quality time with family and friends. Cheryl will be deeply missed by everyone, as she touched so many lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Kathryn Snipe; and husband, Buddy Miller.
Left to cherish the beautiful memory of Cheryl are her fiancé, Mike Starks; loving daughters, Vanessa Dotie, Brittany Darby, and Natalie Hanson; grandchildren, Devyn Dotie, Tiyana Darby, Makenzlee Grace, O’Ryann Lewis, and a little butterfly on the way; sister, Stephanie Lambert and husband, Ronnie; two nieces and three nephews; father of her two youngest children, David Hanson; and her beloved Maltipoo, Harley; along with many extended family members and friends.
Memorials may be made in honor of Cheryl Wallace Miller to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
Honoring Cheryl as pallbearers will be Brian Cox, Gavin Erwin, Kelly Farrar, Brandon Lee, Randy Morgan, and Ronnie “Blonde Ron” Smith.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Alford, Todd Liddle, and Tami Vergo.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, with Brother Jim Owens officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Forest Park East, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Cheryl’s nurses, Adam, Hayley, Makenzie, Mike; Dr. Self; her social worker, Abby; and the hospital staff of Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. We would like to thank our extended family and friends for the ongoing support, compassion, unconditional friendships, and prayers during our greatest loss.
