SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of David Hamilton Hollifield, 78, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Charles McInturf of Woodridge Baptist Church, where David was a member. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Rose-Neath Southside. David was born on April 20, 1937 and entered into rest on October 28, 2015 after lengthy complications from surgery. David was a Veteran of the United States Navy, and was proud to serve his country. He also served with the Shreveport Fire Department for 35 years. He was honored with a Certificate of Merit from the National Red Cross/Washington, D.C. for saving the life of a drowning child. His service to his community was dedicated and selfless. David was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and many other outdoor activities. David was preceded in death by his parents, Lee David and Ethel Marie Gates Hollifield. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Martha Ann Hollifield; daughter, Rhonda Hollifield Chumney; sons, Randy Hollifield and wife, Linda, Brett Hollifield and wife, Carla, and Blake Hollifield and wife, Shannon; step-son, Marvin Evans and wife, JoAnn; step-daughter, Rebecca Evans; grandchildren, Danette, Stephanie, Tyler, Kandace, Amy, James, Kyle, Connor, and Robert Wayne; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, John Allen Riley; sisters, Marjory House and Ethel Johnson, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Honoring David as pallbearers will be Harold Skyles, Jack Barron, John Veils, Barry Lewis, Sonny Clary, and Mike Echols. Honorary pallbearers will be Mitch O'Neal, Jack Horn, David Radford, Sr., Mack Bankson, Bobby Cannon, Ricky Burnette, Ted Leggit, and Donnie Hall. The family would like to say a special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at LifeCare Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
