Funeral services for C. J. Hamaker, of Shreveport, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. Murry Hodge.
C.J. was born on September 19, 1928 in Banks, Arkansas and entered into rest on Thursday, February 9, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was the youngest of seven children of John Elbert and Augie B. Hamaker.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Hamaker, and grandsons, Mathew Furlow and Ethan Hamaker. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Vivian Shofner Furlow Hamaker; children, Randy Hamaker and wife, Shelia, Glen Gordon and wife, Remy, Nancy Nugent and husband, Allen and Ronnie Furlow and wife, Donna and Kathy Furlow; grandchildren, Nathan Hamaker and wife, Lizzie, Miranda Hamaker and fiancé, Brian Campos, Allie Hamaker and fiancé, Travis Williams, Tammy Rogers and husband, Sam, Chris Nugent, Kevin Gordon and wife, Boo, Susanne Smith and husband, Greg and Kaley Dirks and husband, Clay and three great-grandchildren, Cooper and Jack Hamaker, and Daisy Williams.
C.J. served his country in the United States Air Force during World War Two and returned to serve the community as the founder of Hamaker Air for over 35 years. C.J. then retired to spend time with family and pursue his other passion, fishing with friends. He served the Lord through his membership in Calvary Baptist Church and later in Summer Grove Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of their choice.
