Claire Smithwick Kernaghan entered into rest on June 22, 2024, at the age of 66. Claire was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 6, 1958. She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and it was there she met the love of her life, Glenn, whom she had been married to for 37 years.
Claire was a beloved mother and Nana, who took pride and joy in her daughters and grandchildren. She was a devoted LSU and Saints football fan. She loved beautifying her yard with flowers, bird feeders, and plants. She enjoyed eating Mexican food, celebrating special occasions with her family, and tending to her dogs at home. She adored her three grandchildren more than anything else in the world; they were her pride and joy. She was known for her sweet spirit and showed kindness to whomever crossed her path. She will be dearly missed by all of those who loved her.
Claire is survived by her daughters, Ashley Garcie and husband, Joey, of Converse, Louisiana and Julia Johnson and husband, Dalton, of Logansport, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Weston Garcie, Allison Grace Sepulvado, and Anna Faith Marie Johnson; sisters, Julie Smithwick Bennett and husband, Greg, of Shreveport, Louisiana and Diane Smithwick Mills and husband, Scott, of Shreveport, Louisiana, brother, Jack “Bo” Allison Smithwick, Jr. and wife, Emily, of Shreveport, Louisiana; nieces, Emily Bush and Emily Allison Smithwick; and nephew, Jack Peyton Smithwick; as well as a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marie Mae Flowers Smithwick and Jack Allison Smithwick, as well as her beloved husband and best friend, Glenn Kevin Kernaghan.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate the life of Claire Smithwick Kernaghan on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Midway Baptist Church in Converse, Louisiana. The family will begin to receive friends at 5:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Brother Jimmy Price officiating. Claire’s daughters would like to extend their sincere appreciation for all of the love and support shown to them during this difficult time.
