Clarence Loys Batton

Clarence Loys "Buster" Batton, Jr. age 81 of Arcadia passed away suddenly in his home on March 28, 2017. Buster was born in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana on July 25, 1935 to the late Loys and Mildred Batton. He graduated from Harris School and, in recent years, was organizer of their annual school homecoming. Buster looked forward to seeing his old school mates each year to reminisce. He served in the U.S. Army in the late 1950's, stationed in Germany. After working as a terminal operator for Texas Eastern for 34 years, Buster retired in 1994. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed being in the woods and tending to his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed traveling the U.S with his wife of 44 years, Peggy. In addition to his parents, Buster is preceded in death by his sister, Louise Reeve. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy Vernor Batton and his daughters, Jill Batton of Austin, Texas and Kristen Batton Lawrence and husband Scott of Ruston, Louisiana. Affectionately known as "Pop", he was blessed with two grandchildren, Macey and Hadley Lawrence. Buster is also survived by his sisters, Mildred Batton Wright and husband Kerry of Mansfield, Louisiana, Earlene Batton Prince of Sibley, Louisiana and Barbara Batton Brown of Homer, Louisiana and beloved nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 in the Rose-Neath Chapel of Arcadia. Serving as honorary pallbearers are his brothers-in-law, Johnnie Forrest, James Vernor and Kerry Wright and his lifelong friend, Jack Ford. The family suggests memorials be made to Bethlehem Cemetery, for which Buster served on the Board of Directors until his passing, or to Holly Springs Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited to express condolences online at www.rose-neath.com.
