CLAUDE RAY ADAMS, JR.
SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services honoring Mr. Claude Ray Adams, Jr., will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel on Friday July 8, 2016 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment to follow at Springville Cemetery in Coushatta, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Willis Dear assisted by Rev. Mark Goines and Rev. Kaylan Walker. Visitation with the family will be held at 10:00 a.m. until time of service Friday July 8, 2016 at the funeral home.
Claude Adams was a native of Coushatta, LA, however, Shreveport, LA has been home since 1972. Mr. Adams passed away July 5, 2016, at his home in Shreveport, at the age of 90. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and The CUMC Men's Prayer Breakfast Group.
Mr. Adams served three years in Pacific Theater during WWII; for the last 19 months of his service, he served as S/SGT - Wire chief with the 1374th Signal Company Wing, where he was responsible for the supervision of the installation, testing, repairing, and maintenance of central office and other telephone equipment in a military communication system. Immediately after the war, Mr. Adams went to work for "Bell" Telephone; he retired from South Central Bell in Shreveport, LA as Plant Manager after a successful 38 years of service in 1982. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life. Claude loved his family and friends, he was there for them. He never met a stranger, always had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone.
He was preceded in death by wife his of 58 years, Corene Box Adams; his parents C.R. and Edna Adams of Coushatta, LA; sister Jackie and husband Charles Smith. He is survived by daughter Janice Ramsey and husband Larry of Shreveport, LA; son Mike Adams and wife Charlotte of Keithville, LA; grandsons Gene and Matt Ramsey and wife Erin of Shreveport and Jade and Jacob Adams of Keithville, LA and a host of great grands, nieces, and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Carolyn Lewis, his best friend, caretaker, and love for the past year. She was a God sent blessing into his life.
Honoring Claude pallbearers will be Gene Ramsey, Matt Ramsey, Jade Adams, Jacob Adams, Jarett Ramsey, and Wyatt Ramsey.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be The Christ United Methodist Church Men's Prayer Breakfast Group.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1204 Crabapple Dr, Shreveport, LA 71118.
