Claude Hartwell Roberts Jr., 86, passed away in his home in Houston, TX on July 17, 2014

Born to Claude and Marie Roberts in Mansfield, LA, January 15, 1928, Claude Jr grew up in Mansfield, LA and was a graduate of Mansfield High School class of 1945. He attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA from 1945-50 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Claude Jr was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and remained an active contributor throughout his life.

After graduating from LSU, he enlisted in the US Navy and was selected as the honor graduate of his recruit training class. Claude was selected for Officer's Candidate School, commissioned as an Ensign, and served as Chief Engineer on the U.S. Navy destroyer, USS Moale. He served during the Korean War through its end in 1954 where he and his shipmates earned a Korean Battle Star for combat in the Sea of Japan.

Completing his tour in the Navy in 1954, Claude spent his entire professional career as a petroleum geologist. Professionally, he was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientist including all of the Gulf Coast Societies.

Claude was married to Patricia Allbritton of Mansfield, LA at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church on December 28, 1955 and was married for 55 years before Patricia's passing in December of 2011. Claude is survived by his son Andrew "Britt" Roberts and his wife, Lori, and grandsons, Chris and Cole of Houston, TX, son, Jeffrey "Scott" Roberts of Houston, TX, and son, John "Eric" Roberts, Lt Col., USAF retired, of Naples, FL. Claude is also survived by his sister, Rena Marie Roberts of Dallas, TX. including a host of friends and business associates.

Along with being a devoted and loyal father, Claude shared a passion for golf, tennis, hunting, and fishing. He was an active member of Christ Church Cathedral of Houston, TX.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday July 26, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Chapel at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA. Private family only burial services will be conducted at the cemetery in Mansfield, LA.
