SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Claude "Joe" Joseph Russell, Sr., 86, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. at Ford Park Baptist Church, with Bro. Freddie Williford officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery-West. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside.
Joe was born on Jan. 29, 1929 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 18, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.C. Russell and Mary Russell Francis, and daughter, Patricia Ann.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dot Russell; son Joe Russell, Jr., and wife Kerri; daughter Linda Williams and husband Roger; grandchildren LeAnn Russell Waldroup (Matt), Bruce Williams, Nick Williams, CJ Russell (Alexis) and Patrick Williams; great-grandson William Waldroup; brother Charles Russell (Jane); and numerous dear relatives and friends.
Joe was an award-winning salesman for Reynolds Metals Company. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and bus driver for Ford Park Baptist Church, where he was a founding member. He also served the church as music minister for several years. He loved spending time with his family, holidays, traveling with friends and his grandchildren, and singing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Honoring their grandfather and uncle as pallbearers will be Bruce Williams, Nick Williams, CJ Russell, Patrick Williams, Matt Waldroup, and Timm Sasser.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, La.
