Funeral services honoring the life of Claudia Ann McGowan will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Pinecroft Baptist Church, 8002 Jewella Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Steve Petty. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Ave. Claudia Ann McGowan was born June 8, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Robert and Ossie Prothro and passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 14, 2021. Claudia loved to sing and was a soprano in the church choir all of her life. She loved to tole paint, sew clothing, watch the hummingbirds, and admire the daisies. She was a devoted wife and mother who was strong in her faith as a Christian woman. Claudia may have been slow to anger but she knew how to hold her own. She enjoyed riding her motorcycle, even the riding lawn mower around the yard. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, beautiful artwork, sweet smile and lovely singing voice. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie McGowan Thompson and great-grandson, Dakota Briggs. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 67 years, Edward W. McGowan; daughter, Brenda McGowan Wilmer and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Stephanie Briggs Wilton and husband, Justin, Matt Thompson, Pat Thompson, and Brock Wilmer and wife, Cely; great-grandchildren, Kerry Thompson, Annabelle and Aubrey Thompson and Kai Wilmer; and brother, John Robert Prothro and wife, Martha.
