Clement (CJ) Scroggins

Clement John (CJ) Scroggins of Simsboro, Louisiana passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025 at the age of 86.

CJ was born on October 1st, 1938 in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana to John and Ouida Scroggins. CJ graduated from Flora High School and in 1961, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. CJ was united in marriage to Debra Dyanne Kilpatrick on October 14th, 1968 in Marshall, Texas. 

CJ was baptized a Jehovah’s Witness in 1975. He was known for his expert copper and sheet metal work. He enjoyed duck hunting, riding around his farm in Simsboro, and telling amusing stories of his younger days. 

CJ is survived by his wife Debra, daughter Michelle (Destry) Charpentier and son Timothy (Anna) Scroggins; grandchildren Tyler Loya, Natalie Scroggins, Emily Scroggins and great-grandchild Naya Loya; sister Sue (Fred) Carter. And numerous family, friends, and Witnesses who all have special memories of him.

CJ was preceded in death by his parents John and Ouida Scroggins, brother Ronald and sister-in-law Robbie Scroggins, and nephew Brent Scroggins.

CJ battled with Alzheimer's disease for many years. Special thanks to his devoted caregivers Maria Carmen Olguin and Deborah Freeman, the staff at Willow Ridge Nursing Home, and the staff at Shreveport VA Hospital.

Join us for a celebration of life on Sunday, February 23rd from 1pm-4pm at the Arcadia Event Center in Arcadia, Louisiana. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Come and share a story about CJ!
