Funeral services for Cleora “Keet” Williams Smith will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Bro. Randy Brown officiating. Interment with family only will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Saline/Castor, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Keet was born November 24, 1936, to James K. and Edra Lester Williams, where she was raised in Wisner, Louisiana and entered into rest February 1, 2024, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
She married EJ Smith in September of 1953, and they made their home in Minden, Louisiana where they made lifetime friendships with the Bell South families. Keet drove a school bus for Webster Parish Schools for 29 years. She adored and remembered the children that rode her bus each day and made sure they arrived at school and back home safely. Keet had a true sisterhood with all her fellow bus drivers and enjoyed spending time with them during all of their planned lunch and dinner dates. She loved traveling all over the US where she visited many National Parks. Keet was able to travel to Australia, New Zealand, Paris France, England, and cruise Alaska, Hawaii, and the Caribbean after retirement. For MANY years, as a family, they fried fish with all the fixin’s every Tuesday and Thursday night with dear neighbors, the Bristers and the Turners and anyone else that wanted to join them. Keet loved spending time with her family, especially during the Christmas season.
Keet enjoyed hosting friends and family, reading, shopping, dressing up, travel, talking to her friends on the phone, playing the piano, and singing in the choir at Beech Springs Baptist Church. She also loved to bake for everyone. Her specialties include chocolate and coconut cream pie and especially her Christmas millionaires, divinity, and peanut brittle.
Keet was preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband EJ Smith, her oldest son Michael Smith, her sister, Evelyn Aymond, and her brother, Carroll Williams.
Left to cherish her memory is her son K. Scott Smith and wife Scarlett, grandchildren Fawn, Austin, and Caleb Smith and 5 great-grandchildren, brother Rufus Williams, sister, Judy Kowis of Houston, sister-in-law Ethel Tyler and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces, and nephews.
We would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful ladies that work for Passages Hospice in Minden, Savannah Court Assisted Living in Minden and Savannah Cottage in Bossier City. Our deepest gratitude for making her quality of life better the past 4 years.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to donors choice.
