Cleva "Katie" Brewton

Roanoke, TX- A graveside service for Mrs. Cleva "Katie" Bemiss Brewton, 87, will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Restland Cemetery, Waskom, TX. Officiating will be Dr. Bruce Barber. Katie was born March 5, 1927 in Shreveport, LA to James Asbury and Cleva Meek Bemiss. She passed away on January 9, 2015. She most recently attended First Baptist Church in Roanoke, TX and had formerly served as organist for First Baptist Greenwood. She was a lifetime member of Ingleside Baptist Church prior. Activities she participated in were teaching Sunday School and singing in the choirs. Her interests included gardening, crochet, tatting, and sewing. Her first profession was as a Bell Telephone operator, later co-owner of Bee-Mac daycare, and retired from a position as receptionist for Gym Dandy. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, William D. Brewton. She is survived by her sons, David James Brewton and wife, Carrie, and Stephen Walter Brewton and wife, Cynthia, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
