Services celebrating the life of Cloyd Dewayne McDaniels will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Carl Rhodes of the First United Methodist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana will officiate. Private interment will follow in Munnerlyn Chapel Cemetery, Ida, Louisiana.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Mr. McDaniels was born October 17, 1925 in Standard, Louisiana to the late Hugh and Pricie Leigh McDaniels. He passed away on April 10, 2018. Following his high school graduation in Urania, Louisiana, he entered Louisiana Tech University. He studied for two years at Louisiana Tech University before enlisting in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Americal Division, 85th Chemical Mortar Battalion in the Philippines and New Guinea before returning to the University to complete a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1949. He was employed by Cities Service Oil Company for 30 years in Bartlesville and Tulsa, Oklahoma. He returned to Shreveport in 1976 where he accepted a position with J-W Operating Company. He was subsequently transferred to Dallas, Texas in 1986 where he completed his working career at J-W Operating Company.
Mr. McDaniels was a member of First United Methodist Church, Shreveport, Louisiana and a member of the Maida Mickle Sunday School class.
Mr. McDaniels is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Yvonne Lily McDaniels; and daughter-in-law, Linda Sue McDaniels. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Michael Duane McDaniels and wife Claire and R. Steve McDaniels; grandchildren, Kelsey Leigh Ornelas and husband Victor, Michael David McDaniels and wife Tiffany, and Bradley Scott McDaniels; and great-grandchildren, Grayson Taylor Ornelas and Dylan Brady Ornelas.
