SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services celebrating the life of Colbert O. Hines, 91, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Marlon Brook Blakey. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Colbert was born on February 12, 1925 in Friendship, LA to Wiley and Mattie Roberts Hines and passed away on April 11, 2016. Colbert proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran. After serving his country his calling was to be a Minister. He met and married the love of his life, Betty Jo Hedges Hines. They had a long and happy life together for over 63years.
Colbert is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Hines; his son, Collis Ray Hines, and his brother, Frank Hines. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Barbara Ann Brown and husband, Harold of Poplarville, MS, and Treva Jo Bray and husband, Emory of Quinlan, TX; one sister, Marjorie Moseley, who passed away 3 days after Colbert, who was from Shreveport, LA; Colbert also has 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Honoring Colbert as pallbearers will be Ricky Brown, Jarrett Brown, Kevin Pounds, Brian Frye, Jeremy Hines, and Brook Blakey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Brown, Emory Bray, Jr., and Wayne Sanders
