Connie Horn Miller

Funeral services for Connie Horn Miller, 78, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at First Baptist Church Minden in Minden, Louisiana with Pastor Doug Sanders officiating and Chaplain Andrew Abshire assisting with burial following at Gilgal Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Connie was born on June 28, 1936 to Carroll O'Connor and Thelma Horn in Winnsboro, Louisiana. She retired from the Webster Parish District Attorney's office as Executive Secretary in 1996 and went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2014 following her second battle with cancer. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Carroll O'Connor "Buck" Horn, Jr. (brother), James David Miller (son), Jonathan Gregory Rumby (grandson), and David Miller McCormick (great-grandson). She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James Carroll "Jimmy" Miller; sisters Christine Hughes of Shreveport, Doris Lary of North Carolina and Josephine Lee of Minden; daughters Rheba Miller Savell (Sammy) of Minden and Peggy Miller Halbrook (Erwin) of Ohio; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Also her special friend Cindy Shelton whom she thought of as a daughter. Pallbearers will be D.C. Greer, Bruce Lee, Allan Lee, Ricky Lee, Don Horn, and Ernie Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Miller, Jeff Lee, Eric Lee, Matthew Wilson, Daniel Lee, Colby Lee, Greg Lee, Andy Lary, Jeff Reynolds, and Kary Bryce. Connie asked that family and friends please send donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital and David's Gift.org, in lieu of flowers.
