Connie was born to Sam and Sadie Peters on January 18, 1928 in Shreveport, LA. As a child, she attended St. Mary\'s Catholic School. She enjoyed working in her parent\'s grocery store, where she would help her Papa make his special Italian sausage. She graduated Bossier High School in 1945, where she played the clarinet in the Bossier Band. She then went on to attended business school in Shreveport, LA.
Carrying on the legacy of her Sicilian family, she went on to own and operate many community grocery stores and used her stores as an outlet to bless so many families in her community. Her greatest accomplishment came next with the birth of her daughter, Patricia Ann. Her life was centered around family and cooking Italian food. Everyone in her family has a memory of her cooking, it was her love language and she both cooked and loved so well. Her next phase brought many opportunities to spoil her grandchildren, Tim, Connie and Candace. There was not anything she wouldn\'t do or get for them.
Some of her favorite things were video poker, dancing, dice, horse races, cooking, Viceroy cigarettes, coffee at the Kettle with friends, trips to Las Vegas, her Cadillac cars, bowling and her love for fashion that was always reflected in her fashionable dress.
She dearly loved her eight great grandchildren. She would light up whenever they were around, her love for them was a testament to God's love and was truly a blessing for anyone to witness. She lived a long and happy life and overcame many adversities, the most recent being a COVID-19 survivor. She was a firecracker and an inspiration all wrapped up in one small, lovely, well-dressed package.
Connie was proceeded in death by her parents, Sam and Sadie Peters; sister, Rose and husband, Vince Capuano; brother, Sam Peters, Jr.; nephew, Michael Capuano and niece, Melissa Maggio.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia Mitchell; sister-in-law, Josephine Peters; nephew, Thomas Peters; niece, Sharon and husband, Vince Maggio; grandchildren, Tim Mitchell, Connie and husband, Dr. Aaron Gumm, Candace and husband, Joey Brickner; great grandchildren Savannah Brickner, Catherine Brickner, Sophia Gomez, Zaine Mitchell, Ava Gomez, Charlotte Mitchell, Elizabeth Brickner, Amelia Brickner; many loved nieces and nephews; and dogs, London and Molly.
