Connie Fair Thurmond, born August 13, 1965, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the age of 50. We are saddened by our loss, but rejoice that she is with her Heavenly Father.
Connie was raised in Coushatta, Louisiana. She attended Riverdale Academy and graduated with the Class of 1983.
Over the years, Connie worked in a variety of different customer service jobs. Her outgoing personality and sense of humor made her a favorite among her customers. She always took the time to get to know the people she served and remembered their stories.
Connie was an accomplished guitarist who enjoyed sharing her passion for music. She entertained audiences at schools, churches, festivals, fairs and any venues that needed live entertainment. She was involved with a number of bands in north Louisiana. Connie taught guitar lessons and helped many locals get started playing guitar. She was always happy to share her love of music with others. For many years, Connie lived in Pensacola, Florida. There she was a founding member for the all female rock band, UltraViolet which is now in its 24th year. This band is made up of a very special group of women, who play hard rock music.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Walter and Jeanne Hatcher DeMoss; paternal grandparents, Laine and Ila Mae Hunter Fair; parents, Jerry and Patricia Fair and her former husband, George Thurmond.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Thurmond and her partner, William Basco, Jr.; granddaughters, Caylin and Saydi Loftin, Kylie Basco of Alexandria, Louisiana; brother, Steven Fair of Bossier City, Louisiana; sister, Amy Drabwell and husband Eric; nieces, Lauren, Claire and Susan Drabwell ; special friends, Diana Bailey and former and current members of the UltraViolet Band and Kay Duco.
Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath funeral home in Coushatta on Friday, July 8 from 6 to 8 pm. The memorial service will be at 11 am on Saturday, July 9th at Rose-Neath chapel in Coushatta.
