Funeral services for Cornealius “Buddy” Edward Wilkins, Jr., 74, will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Haughton, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Andrew Brewster.

Buddy was born on July 13, 1950, to Cornealius Edward Wilkins, Sr., and Patsy Lorene Craton in Bossier City, Louisiana, and passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

In Buddy’s earlier years, he found fulfillment working with a band called South Paw as their soundboard engineer. This role allowed him to immerse himself in the music he loved so dearly. Additionally, he worked at a pawn shop, where he was known not just for his work ethic but also for the friendships he cultivated with his colleagues and the customers who frequented the shop.

An avid outdoorsman, Buddy enjoyed fishing and hunting, particularly duck hunting, activities that filled him with joy until he was no longer able to continue. He spent countless hours camping and sitting around the campfire, cherishing the peace and tranquility that nature offered. The Bodcaw woods held a special place in his heart, as it was there, that he spent much of his time, reveling in the beauty and serenity of the natural world. Buddy’s love for music was matched only by his love for the outdoors, and both provided him with a sense of freedom and happiness.

Buddy will be remembered for his infectious spirit and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and nephew, Walt Livingston, Jr. He is survived by his son, Little Buddy, III; sisters, Linda Livingston, and Shecelia Hall; grandchildren, Addison Wilkins, C.E. Wilkins, IV., and Jackson Wilkins, along with a host of extended family and treasured friends.

Honoring Buddy as pallbearers will be Jaime Don Irby, Jimmy Kent, Jr., Brayden Warke, Donnie Irby, Jimmy Kent, Rick Vanmeter, and Steve Shavers.

In lieu of flowers Buddy would love for you to take someone fishing.
