Cuquita "Cookie" Moreno Rice

Funeral services for Cuquita “Cookie” Moreno Rice, 76, will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Scott Ethridge.

Cookie was born on April 23, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas to Pedro and Guadalupe Moreno and passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Cookie is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Guadalupe Moreno; children, twins, James and Perry Rice; grandchildren, Ambria Galbraith and Jonathan Enders; brother, Pedro Moreno, Jr.; sister, Guadalupe Garcia; sister-in-law, Renee Moreno; niece, Elizabeth “Beth” Moreno; and nephew, Joshua Koob, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory is her spouse, Wachel Rice; daughters, Marlene Enders (Rickey), Lt. Col. Lesa Tilley (Ret.) (Danny), Jerri Kaner, Melissa Harris (Will), and Karen Rice (Katy); sons, Alfonso Garcia, III, and John Rice (Gina); grandchildren, Ashley Clinger (Steven), Avery Enders (Ariel), Megan Garcia, Corey Tilley, Robin Galbraith, Adrian Galbraith, Sabrina Owens (Nathan), Blake Rice, Sr., Devin Whipple (Lincoln), Brianna Rice, Amanda Rice, Olivia Rice, Bayle Anne; great-grandchildren, John Clinger, Austin Clinger, Gabriel Enders, Cody Reno, Jr., Keaton Bryant, Isabell Mitchell, Laytin Mitchell, Blake Rice, Jr., Erza Whipple, Everett Whipple, and Nesta Summerville; siblings, Margaret Garcia (Joe), Sandy Griffith (Billy), Dorothy Waters (Bill), Lenora Gipson (Kenneth), Thelma Walton (Seth), Tony Moreno (Suzy), Johnny Moreno (Marilyn), and Joe Moreno.

Honoring Cookie as pallbearers will be Danny Tilley, Adam Moreno, Cannon Moreno, Teddy Garcia, Lynn Garcia, and Dallas Mora.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph Hospice for the wonderful care they showed our Mom, especially to Renee, RN; Angela, CNA; and Chaplin Sam who went above and beyond their call of duty. A special thank you to Gerald Russell who helped care for both Mom and Pop. Also, thanks to Lenora Gipson, who helped care for her sister for the past two years. Aunt Nora, without your love and willingness to care for Mom, it would not have been possible to keep her home with us. We are truly grateful for all that you gave to her and to us.
