Curtis “Curt” Nelson was born September 1, 1950, in Homer, LA, to Justina Wellborn Nelson and Curtis “Swede” Nelson, Sr. He entered into rest at his home surrounded by family on Monday evening, October 24, 2022, in Homer. “Stray Cat Blues” was the hangout club for him and his high school buddies, but no girls were allowed. Curt got a motorcycle when he was a senior in high school and was very passionate about riding and touring. Curt and friends took Tana on her first motorcycle journey which was a 3500-mile round trip for 17 days and included tent camping. Valhalla Motorcycle Camp ground started by Curt as a dream he had back in 1997. Curt never met a stranger and people were drawn to him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who enjoyed making memories with whoever was around.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 16 years, Tana Hood Nelson; son, Chris Bailey and wife Patsy of Summerfield, LA; daughter, Stacy Fountain and Marty Lowrey of Homer; sister, Tina Ann Nelson Hensley and Kenneth; five grandchildren, Brittany McLendon and Hayden, Caleb Fountain, Colton Fountain, Briiana Bailey, and Carmon Bailey; two great-grandchildren Jayden and Mila; nephew, Terry Lynn Nelson and Brandi and children; along with other relatives and many, many friends.
