Stanley, LA - Curtis Neal Hensley, 76, went to be with Jesus on December 14, 2014 in Shreveport. He was born on October 11, 1938 in Mansfield. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. He married Johnnie Faye Booker on March 1, 1963. Curtis graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1957. He served in the Marines. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Joaquin.
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Lizzie Belle Chreene Hensley better known as Ma.; sisters Amy Smith, Ruby Cunningham, Helen Fields, Reba Rogers, Willie Mae Hensley, Hattie Hensley, and Hazel Hensley; brothers Mervin Hensley, Harvey Hensley, William Hensley and an infant brother; father-in-law Boone Booker and mother-in-law Viola Booker.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Johnnie Booker Hensley; daughters Darla Gortney and husband Glenn and Debbie Davis and husband Chuck; sons Michael Hensley and wife Kathy and Jeffrey Hensley and wife Christine; grandchildren Misti Gortney, Rusty Gortney, Dustin Davis and wife Tiffany, Laura Manasco and husband Wes, Austin Davis, Erika Hensley, Braeden Hensley, Ashley Brown, Josh Brown and wife Erika, Amanda Sherman, Hannah Hensley, Brianna Hensley, Dan Glud, Samantha Hensley, Quentin Hanson, Monica Fonville, Colton Eldridge, and Carly Eldridge; great grandchild Maiya Brown; special companion Puppy; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Those honoring the life of Curtis as pallbearers will be Christine Hensley, Joe Donovan Hensley, Lynn Hensley, Quentin Hanson, Jimmy Booker and Doly Love. Honorary pallbearers will be Uncle Neal's nieces and nephews that he loved dearly; special friends, Dale Coffey, Bobby Lovett, Glenn Ebey; and all of his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 with Reverend Jackie Meeks and Reverend Bruce Kunkel officiating. Burial will follow in Prude Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 5:00 until 9:00 PM.
