HOMER, LA: Cynthia Gail (Stockstill) King, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in Homer, Louisiana.Cynthia was born July 4, 1944, in New Iberia, Louisiana, to Wesley Marks Stockstill (Gank) and Sadie (Snellgrove) Stockstill (MiMi). She called Homer her home for more than 40 years and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Homer, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Homer Garden Club. She brought her cooking and gardening talents to Atlanta, Georgia, to pass down to her granddaughter, Gabrielle Elizabeth King, who will now carry on making her Christmas fudge and magical rolls in loving memory of her LaLa. Some of the recipes are short on details of measurements and temperatures because LaLa always knew just the right amount. She is survived by and treasured her daughter, Ashley Elizabeth King, and son, John William King, Jr. (Johnny). Birthdays will not be the same without her calls during which she loudly and unapologetically belted out the Happy Birthday song. She would even sing it twice in a row so that her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Conner King, who shares a birthday with her son, would get her own song. She embraced every moment with her children. There was no detail of their lives too small to be worth cherishing and recounting. She is survived by her brother, John Wesley Stockstill and by her sister-in-law, Mary Stockstill. She was a proud Aunt to their children, John Matthew Stockstill and Elizabeth Stockstill, James Montgomery, Mark Montgomery, and Rebecca Montgomery, who she always referred to lovingly as "Little Rebecca," and to her grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Stockstill Montgomery. She will be remembered fondly by Danny Busby and her many friends.Services will be held on Saturday May 4, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, Louisiana. The family will greet friends at 1:00 pm until the time of service. "More precious was the light in your eyes than all the roses in the world." - Edna St. Vincent MillayIn lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to "801" Methodist Church.
