Dale Batchelor Sandifer died peacefully at home on January 17, 2017 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 82. Dale is survived by his wife, Wanda Leigh Markham Sandifer of Shreveport, LA; two sons, Dr. Dean Preston Sandifer, and wife, Katherine, of Lakeland, FL, and Dr. Darrell Bridges Sandifer, and wife, Aimee of Shreveport, LA; and daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Sandifer-Stech of Beijing, China; ten grandchildren, Erin and Matthew Kuecker and their son, James Leonard, Hannah and Asher Collier and their son, Maddox Dean; Lily, Chloe and Emmie Sandifer-Stech; Ellie Sandifer and fiancée Ryan Watson, Bridges Sandifer, Wesley Sandifer, Kayleigh Smiley and Dalton Smiley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Davis Sandifer and Angie Dell Batchelor Sandifer of Shreveport, LA; brothers William Davis Sandifer and Dan Padgett Sandifer. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his middle son, Reverend Dr. Dan Markam Sandifer-Stech of Beijing, China.
Dale was born on April 6, 1934 in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from Baylor University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. After serving two years in the United States Army, Dale began working as a Certified Public Accountant in Shreveport, LA. Dale and Wanda recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Dale was a devoted and involved husband and father and the family was very active at First Baptist Church of Shreveport. He coached many of the sports teams in which his sons participated. In earlier years he played football, baseball, basketball, touch football and tennis. In later years golf and gardening became his favorite pastime. He was always fiercely competitive.
Funeral services will be officiated by Dr. Jeff Raines on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at Frost Chapel of First Baptist Church. The family invites you to visit in the church parlor the hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, LA.
Honoring Dale as pallbearers will be Dave Sandifer, Robin Sandifer, Dalton Smiley, Robert Bray, Patrick Locke, Sr., and Robert Wisby. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Fant, Jr., Buck Fulco, David Hentschel, David Parnell, Dr. James R. Robinson, Denny Somner, and J.F. White.
