Dana Jo Smith, 50, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away at her home surrounded by her family, Thursday, December 24, 2020, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born to Max Smith and Sandra Wing in Alexandria, Louisiana on May 20, 1970.
She was preceded in death by her father, Max Smith; brother, Bryan Smith and niece, Suzanne Miller.
Left to cherish her memory is her wife, Nicole Hamon; their children, Kendall Riley and Kolton Gage; mother, Sandra Wing and husband, Charles; sisters, Tanya Clark and husband, Tigger, and Ashley Carson and husband, Seth Carson; stepmother, Jan Smith; nephews and nieces, Trenton, Alijah, Max, Maisy, and McKinna; family- in-law, Ann Hamon, and David and Debbie Hamon and special friends of the family, Bridget and Amy Sanders, and Jenny, Britney, and Jackylin Merolla.
To know Dana was to love her. Dana was the type of person who never met a stranger. Her sister, Tanya, said that as kids no one ever had to introduce themselves to the neighbors, because Dana had already done that for them. This rang true throughout her lifetime, and was often frustrating for Nicole, because she said grocery store trips took twice as long. Kendall said she taught her many life lessons in which she loved learning so much, most of the time.
One of her greatest attributes was her infectious laugh, which always came easily when spending time with family and friends. She loved to joke around, and most of the time her laugh was the best part of the joke. She dearly loved life, and was always up for an adventure, whether it be a motorcycle rally or a day at the lake. Dana loved animals, in which she had a variety throughout her life. She leaves behind two adored pups, Chloe and her heartbroken, Chuey.
Dana's presence will always be missed. She was the life of the party, whether it be a child's birthday, a crawfish boil, or a night on the town. She showed us all how to live every day to the fullest. We will always cherish the many great memories we had with her.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Trenton Sergura, Fred Martin, Tony Harold, Matthew Scontrion, Jimmy Robertson and Robert Robertson.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Tigger Clark, Seth Carson, Bridget Sanders and Dylan Womack.
