Visitation for Daniel Webster Scott, Sr., 96, will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Park East Cemetery at a later date. A celebration of a life well-lived will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Graceway Fellowship, 6901 Buncombe Rd., Shreveport, LA 71129.
Dan was born April 7, 1922 in Mansfield, LA to Earl and Rosa Ann Scott and went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2018 in Shreveport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, two sisters, and one grandson, Paul Daniel. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 70 years, Albertine Poché Scott; daughter, Carol; sons, Dan Jr. (Sarah) and Albert (Karen). He was Grandan to granddaughters, Lauren, Stephanie (Raymond), April (Earl), and Anna (Daniel); grandson, Phillip; and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Raymond, Sydney, Avynn, and Everett. He was Uncle Dan to three generations of nieces, nephews, and many others.
Dan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a truck driver with 222nd Searchlight Battalion attached to the Army Air Corp in the Philippines and New Guinea. He was an expert furniture upholsterer for over 40 years continuing to do projects into his 70s. He later worked at Ark-La-Tex Auto Auction for over 16 years. He was an accomplished vegetable gardener for many decades on Hardy St, Penick St, and Colonial Dr.**
Bro. Dan was a faithful servant of the Lord his whole life. He worked in Sunday School and was a deacon and board member at Life Tabernacle. In recent years he was a member of Graceway Fellowship.
