SHREVEPORT, LA-Funeral services for Darlene A. Branton, 58, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Brother Ricky McDonald pastor of Grace Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Forest Park on St. Vincent Ave. Visitation with the family will be from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014 and from 12 noon until service time Monday at the funeral home. Darlene was born on October 13, 1955 to Henry and Lorene Branton and passed away on June 26, 2014 after a four year battle from ALS also known as Lou Gehrig Disease. She was a resident of Shreveport. She was a Baptist. She worked as a nursing assistant at Willis-Knighton South, an insurance agent for Kilpatrick Life, a sales agent for Dillards Department Store and as a waitress for many years. Darlene had a beautiful soul and her smile lit up the room. She loved her family unconditionally. She loved flowers, gardening, and the outdoors. She enjoyed taking trips including time spent at the beach and having a good time with family. She was preceded in death by her father. Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Lorene Branton; sons, David Crook and Kevin Johnson; daughter, Jennifer Mears; grandchildren, Scott Mears III, Peter Mears Ferguson and Jackson Johnson; brother, Gary Branton; sisters, Barbara McDonald and Shirley Tanner; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family expresses a special thank you to the Bradford House staff and special gratitude to caregiver Carolyn Lloyd as well as Charles Philip Hughes her companion and caregiver.
