Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Father Karl Daigle.

David was born on July 10, 1943, to Clarence Brown Bussell and Martha Edith Neal Bussell Kincaid in Roe, Arkansas, and passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

David Bussell spent his early years in Arkansas before moving to Shreveport as a very young man with his family. His mother was insistent that he attend Catholic schools and did so through middle school and attended Fair Park High School. It was there that he met the love of his life, Dolores, who would become his devoted wife of 62 years.

David attended Centenary College while also serving in the Reserves at Barksdale Air Force Base. He found his calling in the banking industry, beginning a decades-long career at Home Federal Bank at the Line Avenue Branch. He was a banker by day, while on weekends, he could be found selling used cars or selling cokes and hot dogs while running the concession stands at the Municipal Auditorium. His banking journey continued at Shreveport Bank and Trust, followed by years at Bossier Bank and Trust, before he expanded his reach into East Texas and southern Louisiana with AMI, Inc.

Later, David’s career took him to Baton Rouge and New Orleans, where he transitioned into the apartment business. Eventually, he and Dolores returned to Shreveport-Bossier, where he found a passion for real estate and insurance. He maintained his broker’s license until the very end, always staying engaged in the industry. Upon returning to Shreveport-Bossier, David reconnected with longtime friend Dale Hopper and resumed his banking career at People’s State Bank in Greenwood transitioning into MidSouth Bank. He was not only a respected figure in the banking world but also a trusted advisor and mentor to many. His years in real estate and banking forged lasting friendships with Dez Hill, Chris Sylvia, and Pogo and these guys all enjoyed many phone conversations solving world problems and contemplating great things together.

David was known for his sharp wit, infectious humor, and knack for delivering a joke with a dose of wisdom. A devoted LSU fan, he passionately followed football—even when he insisted he had "given up" and could no longer watch—and became an enthusiastic supporter of LSU women’s basketball, especially under Coach Kim Mulkey. An avid reader, he rarely went anywhere without his Kindle. A self-proclaimed bookworm, he could finish a book in record time—a skill he had mastered since childhood.

Above all, David’s greatest joy was “taking care of the girls.” He spent his final years proudly declaring to all who would listen that he "lived with three women and loved every second of it." Also, very fitting that for the last ten years, his daughter referred to him as The President or The Prez, that he’d go out just as he did all things….as he wanted to do them…on President’s Day.

Left to cherish David’s memory are his beloved wife, Dolores Ann Litton Bussell; daughter and built-in bestie, Lisa Ann Janes; brother and sister-in-law, Otis and Suzie Litton; brother-in-law, Robert Bustamento; sister-in-law, Barbara Bussell along with many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is also survived by his daughter’s special friends that he and Dee counted as “their girls” and Olivia Ann, his most favorite girl.

Honoring David as pallbearers will be Dale Hopper, Chris Silvia, Shane Bustamento, Johnny Reagan, Jackson Reagan, and Dez Hill.
