David Daniel Davenport

Funeral services for David Daniel Davenport, Sr., 86, will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Sam Carr. 

David was born on August 12, 1938, in Belhaven, North Carolina to Redden Davenport and Eliza Cuthrell and passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana. David faithfully served his country for 26 years as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician in the United States Air Force completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. There he met his first wife and mother of his three children, Kim Anh Pham. David retired at the rank of Master Sargeant while stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base and decided to settle his family in Shreveport, Louisiana.

David was a devout Christian. In 1993, he joined Word of Life Church which later became Life United Church. David truly cherished his church and church family. David also devoted much of his free time to Hospital Ministry at the local VA Hospital.

David is preceded in death by his father, Redden Davenport; mother, Eliza Cuthrell; brothers; William (Ida), Joel (Lena), Lemmie (Becky) Davenport; and sister, Levora “Lee” (John) Stillman; wives, Kim Anh Pham (1994) and Alice Ebey Davenport (2014). Left to cherish his memory are his sons, David Jr., John (Lyn) Davenport; daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Meshell; grandchildren, Aiden Meshell, Katelyn and Jailyn Davenport; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Honoring David as pallbearers will be two members of the American Legion Post 6, two members of the VFW Post 4588, and two members of Life United Church.
