Mr. David Glenn Emerson Sr., 72, of Coushatta, LA, passed away on November 3, 2017, after fighting a long and hard battle with illness. Visitation was held at Rose-Neath Chapel in Coushatta on Tuesday, November 7, from 5 to 9 PM. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 8, at Rose-Neath Chapel in Coushatta at 11 AM with Rev. Bryan Emerson officiating. Mr. David was born July 26, 1945, in Coushatta in Red River Parish, and was retired from self-employed carpentry. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and served his country with pride. He was also a member of the Grand Lodge of the State of Louisiana for 50 years. Mr. David is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ava Eunice Emerson and Frank Veatch Sr., and brothers Frank Veatch Jr. and Thomas Wesley Emerson.
Mr. David is survived by the mother of his children Danita Larson, special friend Linda Pickett, his son David Emerson Jr., his daughters Cody and Stacey Emerson, and his grandchildren Hannah Dirks, Dakota Keaton, Christopher, Jonnathon, and Justin Struck, and step-grandchildren Kevin, Kim, and Kayla Layfield and Meggan Roy, all of whom were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings Dewey, Donny, and Ricky Emerson, and countless nieces, nephews, great grandkids, and lifelong friends.
Mr. David's family would like to give special thanks to Drs. Chico, Cason, Coleman and Carter of Christus Coushatta Health Care for their ceaseless and loving care for Mr. David in the later years of his life.
Serving as pallbearers were Dewey Emerson, Donny Emerson, Ricky Emerson, Thomas Wesley Emerson II, Robert McMillian, Robert Earl Bamburg, and honorary pallbearers David Layfield and Eric Cason. Mr. David was laid to rest in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
