David Frank Green, Jr., 85, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Frank was married for 64 years to his adoring and loving high school sweetheart, Ann Hutchinson Green and was a devoted father to Cynthia Green Davis and her husband, Dr. Gregory Raymond Davis, Scott Hutchinson Green and his spouse, Robert Dean Smith, daughter-in-law, Janna Tew Green; grandfather to four granddaughters, Erin Green Lambert and her husband Christopher Lambert, Elizabeth Green Olivier and her husband, Stephan Olivier, Kathryn Ann Davis and Claire Elizabeth Davis; great-grandfather to Megan Elizabeth Lambert; brother-in-law Campbell Cummings Hutchinson III and his wife Allison Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Frank Green and Grace Williams Green, son, David Frank Green III and granddaughter, Meagan Elizabeth Green.
He was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. As an Eagle Scout, Frank travelled to Europe for a World Jamboree. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1950 and was extremely proud to be a member of the 1949 football state championship team and also lettered in three sports, football, basketball and track. Frank received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Southern Methodist University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He proudly served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. Following his discharge in 1957, he began his lifelong career working in the insurance industry at Hutchinson Insurance Agency which later became Hutchinson & Green, Inc.
Frank loved his family and took great pride in telling others of each one\'s successes. He was an avid golfer at Shreveport Country Club and East Ridge Country Club. He especially enjoyed the many golfing trips with his wife and other couples. Many fun weekends were spent at the family\'s camp \"Full House\" on Toledo Bend where the fishing was great.
Frank was very active in various capacities at First United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Administrative Board, the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, the Commission on Missions, and the Commission on Education. He was also a member of the Insurance and Finance Committees. He also taught Sunday School. He was a member of the Cotillion Club, The Royal Order of Jesters and was a Gentleman of the Court in the second Cotillion Ball.
Services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, LA Reverend Carl Rhoads and Dr. Gregory Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent, Avenue. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street.
Honoring Frank as pallbearers will be Thomas Murphy, Gilbert Shanley, Sam Smith, Shelby Smith, Paul Winder, and Sheldon Snow. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pamela Brown, William Lowry, William Murphy and Dr. Seborn Woods.
