David Lynn Harris, Sr.

A funeral service for David Lynn Harris, Sr., 73, will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 4227 Van Deeman St, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022. Burial will be held 3:30 p.m. at Crossroads Cemetery, Crossett, Arkansas 71635. Officiating the service will be Pastor Nick Sorrell and Pastor C.L. Bourne. David was born May 11, 1948 in Crossett, Arkansas to Frank Harris and Maude Harris. He passed away on March 8, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana. David attended Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana and obtained a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a minor in Music. He married the love of his life Yolenda Daniels August 27, 1971. He is the father of five children. David was a minster of music and youth for over 50 years, 40 of which were at Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was also a principal of many Christian schools. David was a purveyor of antiquities and an avid yard-saler. He was an Arkansas Razorback fanatic. His hobbies included fishing with his children, antiquing and gardening with his beloved wife, Yolenda. Adored by his grandchildren. David is going to be greatly missed by all. David is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vernelle Hollis; brother, Jim Harris; son, Jonathan Harris; daughter-in-law, Melissa Ann Harris; grandsons, Noah Inman and Tyler Harris. He is survived by his wife, Yolenda Daniels Harris; children, David Harris, Jr., Christy Glover and husband, Bobby, Tim Harris and wife, Katie, Shawn Harris and wife, Whitney; daughter-in-law, Melissa Phillips and husband, Jeremiah; papaw to 13 grandchildren, Elijah, Mikayla, Chloe, Lizzy, Caleb, Layne, Elizabeth, Katie, Emma, Madison, Aidan, Kaylen and Caroline. Honoring David as pallbearers will be Tim Harris, Shawn Harris, Elijah Harris, Aidan Harris, Caleb Harris and Layne Mayberry. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Faires, Jeremiah Phillips and Bobby Glover.
