Celebration of Life services for David "Carlton" James, 64, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 26, 2014, in the Rose-Neath Coushatta Chapel with Bro. Mike Fort of Hickory Grove Baptist Church officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Thomas Wren Cemetery, Martin, LA, under the direction of Rose-Neath Coushatta.
The family would like to welcome guests for visitation Friday, July 25, 2014, during the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Rose-Neath Coushatta Chapel.
Carlton was born March 30, 1950, in Shreveport, LA, to the late Herman Frank and Labrillia Elaine Thomas James and was called to his Heavenly home in Shreveport, LA, losing his courageous battle to cancer. Carlton was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing in the great outdoors. He enjoyed making a joyful noise unto the Lord using his vocals to sing. Carlton will always be remembered for the unique grill-master he became.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents and one sister; Debra Thompson.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories of Carlton will be his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Sharon Kay Bates James; his two daughters: Carla James Thrash and husband Mike and Christine "Chrissy" James Hester and husband Clayton; three sisters: Barbara Barbo, Carolyn Williams and Sharon Blankenship and husband Anthony; two brothers: Charles James and wife Becky and William James and wife Mindy amongst numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends.
Honoring Carlton as pallbearers will be Pat Arnold, Ricky Johns, Wayne Speight, Joey Garcie, Chad Hart and Richard Journell. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Suggs, Jack Suggs, Jeffrey Suggs, Michael Suggs, Rafe Suggs and the United Engines Staff.
