SHREVEPORT, LA - David Alton Parker, 71. After a lengthy illness, Mr. Parker passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 28, 2015, with his loving wife, Joan, by his side. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery, 7316 Hwy 126, Dodson, LA 71422. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
David was born August 10, 1943, in Dodson, LA. He spent most of his life in Shreveport, LA. He worked 38 years at Mid Continent Foundry. David and Joan were both Bass Life Members for David was an avid fisherman. He would travel all over to fish; Broken Bow was one of his favorite places to go. David and Joan were known by many as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. He will be truly missed by all of his friends and family.
His daughter, Tracy Canada; and his parents, Payton Alton Parker and Ester Stewart Parker, preceded him in death. Left to cherish his beautiful memory is his wife, Joan Mayfield Parker; Daughters, Tina Deardoff, Melanie Shaw and her husband, Wade; son-in-law, Butch Canada; six grandchildren, Peyton and Austin Shaw, Nick and Kaleigh Deardoff and Brandon and Chris Canada.
Pallbearers will be Marlin Roberts, George Hodges, Tommy Shuttlesworth, Randy Farrar, Jeremy Farrar and Jason Ambrose. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Canada and Randy Hughens.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Regional Hospice, will special mention of Michael Chalotte, Yoshue Oliver and Chaplain Dave McKinney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mike Echols for a singular bass release in honor of David Parker.
