Funeral services honoring the life of David Dalton Phillips will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Road in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Dr. Murry Hodge. Honoring David as pallbearers will be DJ Turner, John Crisler, Ben Scheen, Darryl DeShields, Truman Wimberly, John Jones, and Ray Vinings.
David was born on January 18, 1951, in Shreveport, Louisiana and went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2025.
David was a Christian, baptized in the Jordan River. He was an active member of Summer Grove Baptist Church where he served in the thrift store, joy choir, and Compassion House Ministry. He wholeheartedly believed in God, held an unshakable faith, and was a loyal servant.
David attended high school at Woodlawn until his senior year. He graduated from Airline High School in Bossier City, Louisiana. He worked in the oil field most of his life at Murco, Grey Wolf and retired from H&P Drilling. He and his wife Melba were members of the Free Spirits Motorcycle Club and rode all over the United States. He played guitar and mandolin and was a member of the Blanchard Pickers and the Northwest Louisiana Bluegrass Club. David and Melba enjoyed boating, skiing, tubing, and kayaking with their kids and grandkids. He loved visiting his children and grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marcell Phillips. He is survived by his daughters, Brandi Bradford and husband Danny, Ginny Stroman and husband Mike, and Leslie Robinson and husband Freddie; grandchildren, Kirstin Healy and husband Charles, Ashley Veuleman and husband Troy, Joseph, Sonny, Sammy, and Seth Stroman; great-grandchildren, Jack Veuleman, Austin Veuleman, and Hendrix Healy; sister, Zorona Myers; brother, Paul Phillips.
David was a good hardworking family man, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Noble at Regional Urology, Dr. Koticha at Christus Highland, Dr. Guthikonda, Dr. Wiggins, Dr. Savory, and MD Anderson Cancer Care for all of the care, love, and support provided to David and family.
