David Lane Smith

SHREVEPORT, LA - A memorial service for David Lane Smith, 62, will be held Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., August 12, 2015, at Rose-Neath\'s Southside Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Bart Gould officiating. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday evening, at 6:00 p.m., August 12, 2015, at the funeral home prior to the service. David was born November 13, 1952, in Marshall, TX, to Don and Wanda Smith. He passed away August 8, 2015, in Shreveport, LA. He was retired from the oil and gas industry. David loved his family and spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Smith Shirey and Don Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Haley Smith Bjornberg of Shreveport and son, Brian David Smith and wife, Katharine of Shreveport; grandchildren, Taylor Eric and Ella Lane Bjornberg, and Laura Kate Smith; siblings, Pete Smith and wife, Jane of Fort Smith, AR, Mike Smith and wife, Irene of Bossier City, Jan Gipson and husband, Danny of Richardson, TX, and his ex-wife, Karen Bilyeu Smith of Shreveport. The family request that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
