David Arnold Williamson was born in Vivian on October 4, 1930. He died on Sunday, May 28 at his home in Brownsburg, Indiana.
He graduated Vivian High School in 1947 and then attended Louisiana State University. While at LSU, he earned 3 degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1951, Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1957, & a Master of Education in 1966.
For the majority of his adult life, he was a minister in the Bible Missionary Church. He taught school in the Rapides Parish School System and the Caddo Parish School System at Linwood Junior High School in Shreveport. He also served his country as a medic in the United States Army.
David was the fourth of five children born to Earl G. Williamson, Sr. & wife, Mamie Greer Williamson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl G. Williamson, Jr., James Whitfield Williamson. He is survived by Jean Williamson Bright, Donald Wayne Williamson, Clayton Lamar Williamson and Tedford Fielden Williamson.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bell Williamson of Brownsburg, Indiana; Five (5) children: Julie Dianne Salter, Sharon Elaine Williamson, Robert Dwayne Williamson & wife, Darlene Williamson, Clara Denise Howland & husband, Ronald Howland and David Glenn Williamson & wife, Tina Williamson.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Megan Danielle Williamson, Dana Denise Williamson, David Williamson, Jr., Kirsten Nicole Williamson, and Philip Huff, and one great-grandson.
Funeral services celebrating the life of David will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, La. Interment will follow in the Vivian Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
