A graveside service honoring the life of Deborah "Debbie" Howerton will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery, 130 East Stoner Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana. Pastor Rusty Thrift of Hope Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana will officiate. Debbie Howerton was born September 9, 1953 in Corcoran, California to parents Reverend Edward F. Johns and Alma Johns and passed away, Thursday, July 9, 2020 in Alexandria, Louisiana. Debbie married the love of her life, Jim Howerton, on June 8, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. A housewife who raised two children and three grandchildren, she was a devoted Christian who loved church and the Lord. She enjoyed collecting roosters, cows and beanie babies and always made a good roast. Debbie will always be remembered for her contagious laugh and her love for her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Edward and Alma Johns. Debbie is survived by her husband, Jim Howerton; two children, Christian Lee Howerton and fiancé, Lynn Cummings and Sherri Michelle Howerton Downs and husband, Kim; grandchildren, Avery, Braden, Sean, Korey, Matthew, Katie, Kale, and Gunter; her aunt, Frances Van Horn; cousins, Donna Van Horn and Diana Van Horn Cooper and her puppy dog, Peanut. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Hope Baptist Church Restoration Project, 7921 LA-28, Alexandria, Louisiana 71303.
