SHREVEPORT, LA - A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Delbert "Buddy" Green will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Mary of the Pines, with Father John Paul Crispin officiating. Interment will follow at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. A Vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.
Delbert was born December 27, 1944 in Centertown, Kentucky to Mildred Taylor, and passed away on August 1, 2017. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. Delbert was also a Shreveport policeman for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He was also employed with Willis Knighton Health System in Security and as Executive Housekeeper. Delbert was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Pines.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents. His memories are carried on by his beloved wife Kathryn Green; sons Michael Green, Christopher Green and wife Dana, Keith Green and wife Angela, and Steven Green and wife Kelli; sister, Ellen Vender and husband Jay; brother, Charles Taylor and wife Pam; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Honoring Delbert as pallbearers are Aljay Forman, Phillip Low, Robert Gatti Sr., Dale Watkins, Bubba Parrish, Kenny Birch. As honorary pallbearer, Mike Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, or the donor's choice.
