A funeral service for Dolores Ann Bussell, 81, will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Dolores Ann Bussell, known affectionately as Dee, lived her life with determination, charisma, and an unmistakable sense of command. She was truly a force to be reckoned with—tiny but mighty and always in charge. Her unique blend of charm and grit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was soft-spoken but with big effect and managed to command a room with very few words ever said.

Dee was born on August 5, 1943, to Harry Leon Litton and Kathleen Love Litton in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Dee enjoyed a career as a Supervisor at Gannett Newspapers, where her exceptional leadership shone brightly. Later, she transitioned into the travel industry, becoming an AAA Travel Agent and then her favorite role, Household Supervisor. With her sharp skills and unwavering attention to detail, she mastered everything she undertook, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Whether you needed a cross-country trip planned or new curtains for your home, Dee Bussell was your go-to.

Technology may not have been her thing—she famously refused to have email or “get on the Google”—but Dee was a master at almost all things that truly mattered and was a queen at texting. Her resourcefulness and ingenuity were unparalleled, and her ability to connect with people made her a beloved figure in her professional and personal life.

Dee embraced her hobbies and interests with all her energy. She delighted in tackling home projects and cherished her time spent with “her girls,” a close-knit circle of friends who shared laughter and love with her. Among them, her favorite, Miss O, held an especially dear place in her heart.

Dee leaves behind a legacy of hard work, friendship, and love, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was funny, passionate, irreverent, and had no filter. BUT as one “in her circle,” you knew you were loved through and through. She started and ended each day with an “I love you, my sweet girl” to her daughter and ended each day just the same. She had a passion for sparkly shoes and jewelry and a good Brahmin purse, as well as always having her nails and “hair did”.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Bussell; sister; in-laws; aunts; uncles; nieces and nephews; and two favorite boys, Elvis and Doodle. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ann Janes; her brother and sister-in-law, Otis and Suzie Litton; brother-in-law, Robert Bustamento; sister-in-law, Barbara Bussell; and nieces, Sarah Reagan (Johnny), Kandace Lopez (Gary), Martha Jean Davis (Paul) and nephews, Shane Bustamento and Brandon Litton. She is also survived by her extended family, including dear friends, Rositta Babb, Gayle Pitts and sister-friend, Marie Atwood. Her Donna, Krystal, and beloved Olive are also left to cherish her memory.

Pallbearers will be Shane Bustamento, Johnny Reagan, and Jack Reagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Litton, Robert Bustamento, and David Kelsh.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Craig Miller and staff, Dr. Corky Davis and staff, Dr. Steven White, Amber and staff, Ochsner’s Emergency room staff, and the Carpenter House of Shreveport. Also, a special thank you for their care and kindness to Irene Thomas and Divonna October—her crime-solving, French fry and pie-loving daily caregivers.
