A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Starlight Baptist Church located at 3538 Hwy 1 in Marksville Louisiana. Burial will follow at Starlight Cemetery located at 935 Hwy 453 in Marksville.
Delphine Marie Whittington passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at her residence in Marksville, LA.
Delphine was born on July 11, 1970, in Marksville, Louisiana. She is the daughter of Foris Jacobs, Jr. and Gertrude Whittington Jacobs of Marksville, LA. She is the proud and loving mother of Janea Cook and Jada Cook.
Delphine was christened and received her 1st Communion at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Marksville, LA. She was Baptized and united with the Starlight Baptist Church in Marksville, LA. She was a 1988 graduate of Marksville Senior High School. After graduation she moved to Milwaukee, WI and then to Flint, MI for a few years. She also resided for some time in Ludlow, MS. Delphine was employed for many years with the Marksville City Police Department as a Dispatcher. She worked there until her untimely passing.
Delphine enjoyed family gatherings and being with the people she loved most in life. She adored her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to her music and watching movies and her favorite TV shows. She loved to go shopping and eating out. She had a unique sense of style and humor. She was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Delphine was preceded in death by her daughter Jada Cook, grandparents Dupre Sr. and Essie Whittington and Foris Sr. and Elvira Jacobs.
Delphine leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughter Janea Cook (Jamorick), grandchildren Derrick Kyle III, Jaxon Pantallion and Jade Pantallion; her parents Foris Jr. and Gertrude Whittington Jacobs of Marksville, LA; brothers Stephen Whittington and Anzell Jones both of Marksville, LA; sister Jeralyn Jacobs-Young (Trent) of Marksville, LA and Kelly Whittington Berry (Brandon) of Alexandria, LA; Godson Benjamin Young of Marksville, LA; special cousin Nichole Jacobs of Woodworth, LA and companion Terrell James of Mansura, LA. She also leaves to cherish her memories her nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins, relatives, friends, and co-workers.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Stephan Whittington Jr., Arndrell Young, Benjamin Young, Jacob Young, Braelyn Berry, Branson Berry, Captain Kevin Hill and Sergeant Damon Didier.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Starlight Baptist Church in Marksville, lasting until time of service.
