Graveside services for Dennis Dale Watson, 88, will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Blanchard, Louisiana, 71009 at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana, 71101. Officiating the service will be Brother Casey Hall.
Dennis Dale Watson was born October 14, 1935 in Faulkner, Arkansas to Byron Watson and Lillie Price and passed away peacefully Monday, October 23, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana surrounded by his family.
Dennis retired from KCS Railroad after 42 years of devoted work, as a master electrician. After retirement, he became a small business owner of Dean’s Septic Systems for many years. He always treated and saw his employees as an extension of his family. He will always be remembered by his hard work, integrity, and his incredible sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He cared deeply for his family, and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Everette, Vollie, Eugene, Wayne and Byron Watson; three sisters, Hazel Nipps, Jewel Johnson and Maxine Ulmer; two sister in-laws, Eunice Watson and Nell Watson; four brother in-laws, Garland Nipps, Doug Johnson, Walter Cash and Jim Ulmer.
His memory is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Glenn Watson; son, Jeffrey Watson and wife, Daphne; two granddaughters, Morgan Watson DeFreece and spouse, Tell, and Mollie Watson; one special great-grandchild, Carter Duos; one brother, Dwight Watson of Conway; two sisters, Polly
Stevenson of Arkansas and Virginia Cash of Alabama; three sister in-laws, Sue, Alzora, and Annette Watson; brother-in-law John Wesley Glenn III(Kate) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to give a thank you to his nurses at Colonial Oaks and to his physicians, Dr. Eric Smith and Dr. Michael Walton. A special thank you to Sherri McLafferty for her compassionate care and friendship throughout the last several months.
Honoring as pallbearers will be Howard Watson, Jim Ulmer, Jacob Watson, Joey Cambre, Tell DeFreece, and Paul Gibbs.
