Diane Adcock Young

Diane Adcock Young, 68, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones after a brief illness. She was born in Shreveport on March 8, 1956, to Stanley and Faye Adcock.

Diane graduated from Southwood High School in 1974, and shortly after began her first career at Pioneer Mortgage before returning to school to achieve her childhood dream of a career in education. She began teaching in 1997 at Summer Grove Elementary. Diane continued her love of learning by returning to school at LSU and earning her master’s degree and 30 plus, all while teaching full time and caring for her family. She spent many years in the school system in various roles, including 4th grade teacher, librarian, and coordinator, while creating lifelong friends. However, her time teaching and reaching every child that blessed her classroom was one of her greatest accomplishments. Diane retired from teaching in May of 2024 after 27 years of molding young lives and minds.

Diane was a devoted Christian, loving wife, proud mother of two boys, and doting aunt to her nephews and niece, but her job as Mamaw was her favorite role, spoiling her two beautiful granddaughters. She enjoyed spending her free time surrounded by her family and friends, many of whom she found as a member of the Krewe of Gemini, especially while reigning as Duchess in 2012. Diane was a member of The Simple Church where her and her family found a new home to worship, form friendships, and bond as family. Most Sundays she could be found volunteering in the Children’s Ministry where her love for Christ, Family, and Children shined bright.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Faye; In-laws, Sim “Bud” and Hortense Young.

Those left to cherish her memory include her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 50 years, Donny Young. She is also survived by her sons, Craig Young; Bryan Young and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Lexi and Mackenzie Young; brothers, Bruce Adcock; Scott Adcock and wife, Heather and their children, Evan, Caden, and Addison Adcock.

Diane will be remembered for her love of travel, vivacious personality, humorous attitude, zest for life, and of course, her love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

Honoring Diane as pallbearers will be Evan Adcock, Caden Adcock, Billy Rodgers, David Harris, Rich Ricord, Bryan Pigott, Len Adcock, and Kerry Jordan.

A visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Rose-Neath South Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with a service at 12:00 p.m., and a graveside service at Forest Park West Cemetery immediately following.

The family would like to thank Dr. Umer and all the nurses at Ochsner MICU for their kindness and compassion to Diane and her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make donations to The Simple Church Building Fund in Diane’s name.
