Dina Cohen McElwee

Graveside service to celebrate the life of Dina Cohen McElwee, 91, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at Arlington Cemetery, in Homer, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Andrew Brewster.

Dina was born on October 17, 1931, in Morocco to Mordecai Cohen and Gracia Attias Cohen. She passed away on June 7, 2023, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Dina was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and making people feel welcome. She is originally from Israel, where she taught kindergarten prior to coming to the United States. She loved animals, she started out by having poodles and then ended up loving cats. Dina was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed.        

Dina is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, William Tandy McElwee, Jr.; one brother; and one sister. She is survived by her sons, Daniel Assulin and wife, Sylvia, and Jeffrey Roach and spouse, Dale; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
