HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Dixie Ann Stratton Nelson, 84, in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA, on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman, officiating. Interment followed at Arlington Cemetery in Homer. The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Nelson was born May 17, 1933 in Spearsville, LA to Virgil and Bankie Aycock Stratton. She entered into rest on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Nelson was the youngest of 10 children.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Clarence "C.W." Nelson, Jr.; 4 sisters; and 5 brothers.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Karen Anderson and husband James of Benton, LA and Laura Walker and husband Bryan of Flower Mound, TX; 2 sons, Buddy Nelson and wife Nancy and Tommy Nelson, both of Homer; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Billy Ford, Leslie Hollis, Joe Stratton, James Anderson, Bryan Walker and Brian Pepper.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Nelson, her family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
