SHREVEPORT, LA - Doc Benoit Lynn went to his Heavenly home on June 13, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Pastor Beth Sentell of John Calvin Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Benoit was born in Shreveport, LA on January 1, 1933. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1950. He attended Louisiana Tech and was a member of the Theta Kappa Epsilon social fraternity. After graduating from college, he was commissioned into the Air Force Pilot Training Program as a First Lieutenant. After getting his Pilots Wings and attaining the rank of Captain; he left the Air Force after four years, and returned to Shreveport. He worked as National Advertising Manager for the Shreveport Times/Gannet for forty years before retiring. Benoit loved playing golf with his friends after retirement. He really enjoyed gardening and everyday he would feed all of his bird friends. He was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, and sang in the choir for many years. Benoit is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sadie Lynn; and brother, Luther Lynn. Left to cherish his beautiful memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Priscilla Zeigler Lynn; sons, Walton Lynn and wife, Marilyn, Greg Lynn and wife, April; daughters, Pamela Lynn Ross and husband, Mark, Melissa Lynn Moore and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Chapman and husband, Jay; Jessica Ross Barringer and husband, Jamie, Katie Ross Clarke and husband, Chase, Chris Ross, Caleb Miears, Zach Miears, Shane Miears, Emily Miears, Rachael Taule and Stephanie Moore; great-grandchildren, Emma Lynn Barringer, Eli Barringer, Sutton Rose Ross, Ayden Taule and Aiyanna Taule; sisters-in-laws, Marjory Akins, Lucille Merrill and Pauline Zeigler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Benoit will be missed each and every day by his wife and family. He was proud of each and every one of them. He lived a wonderful life and we will certainly miss his presence at all of the holiday dinners and birthdays. Honoring Benoit as pallbearers will be Mark Ross, Steve Moore, Chris Ross, Caleb Miears, Zach Miears and Shane Miears. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Life Path Hospice, for their excellent care; Dr. Andrew O'Young and staff; Dr. Robert Nickelson and staff; and Dr. Tommy Mook and staff for their care and concern.
