Dolphus Lane Cangelose passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 22, 2025. Lane was born on May 4, 1940, in Coushatta, Louisiana, to Allie Mae Wallace Cangelose and Charles Cangelose.

He met Rosie Cooper in 1957 on a blind date at the movies. She was the love of his life. He was a devoted husband for 54 years and a loving father. He worked as a mechanic for 50 years.

His greatest enjoyments in life were taking his beloved dog, Molly, hunting and going fishing with his family and friends. He loved reminiscing about his childhood life in New Orleans with his brother and sisters, his greatest fishing trips and the many hunting adventures. He loved his church members of Beulah Baptist Church as family.

Lane is preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Charles; daughter, Joyce Elaine Cangelose; brother, Sammy Cangelose; brother-in-law, Jamie Laffitte; and niece, Melanie Cangelose.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosie Cooper Cangelose; daughters, Paula Landry Cangelose, and Laura L Cangelose; granddaughter, Jordan Wells Colson and husband Colby Colson; great grandchildren, Alexander Ford and Aubry Colson; sisters, Sheila Goodman and husband Danny, and Mary Laffitte; brother-in-law, Tommie Cooper; sister-in-law, Ella Cangelose, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Cangelose, Brian Adams, John Wells, Terry Martin, Alvin Lum, and Steve Confair. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Whitlock, J. C. Bissell, Tommie Cooper, and Colby Colson.

Special thanks to our dear niece, Maegan Adams, who has been truly a Godsend during this time. We couldn’t have made it without her.
