Dominic David “Donnie” Ladatto, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023, surrounded in love by his family. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Keith Tarkington officiating at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA.
Donnie was born February 3, 1939 in Shreveport, LA. Donnie was a graduate of Fair Park High School where he was the 1957 State Champion Fair Park Indians baseball pitcher. This earned him a scholarship to Northwestern State University that led him to Louisiana Tech University where he graduated with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in English in 1962. After completion of college, Donnie proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. Donnie spent most of his work career as an engineer for Western Electric in Shreveport, LA from 1969-1991.
Donnie was a devoted father to his children, Steve, Dawn, and Mindy, and they were the center of his world. Donnie had a heart of gold always making sure his children were taken care of and loved as only a father can do. He was passionate about solving problems not only for his family but for others that were in need. Donnie dedicated a lot of his time to his church home, Summer Grove Baptist Church, where he participated in many activities that served the Lord as well as his community. Donnie had a passion for being outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, metal-detecting, and tending to his gardens. He truly was one of a kind and will be missed by so many.
Donnie is reunited with his beloved wife, Sue Anne McDonald Ladatto; grandmother, Sarah Serio; father, Joseph Ladatto; mother, Lucille Serio Britt; brother, Sammy Ladatto; nephew Anthony Ladatto; and the mother of his children, Lois Jones Ladatto. Left to treasure his memory is his son, Steve Ladatto and wife, Linda; daughters, Dawn Riddle and husband, Jerome, and Mindy Ladatto; brother, Mike Britt and his wife, Anita; sister, Lisa Britt; and stepdaughters, Lesa Townsend and Wendi Petrus Grabener; his loving grandchildren, Tasha Sotomayer-White, Donte Ladatto, Paige Pacheco Fox, Rece Pacheco, Lauren Cordes and Dominic Ladatto; and numerous other family members and close friends that loved him dearly.
Honoring Donnie as pallbearers will be Donte Ladatto, Dominic Ladatto, Rece Pacheco, Doug Ladatto, Jerome Riddle, Timothy Ethridge, Philip Jones and Jason Harendt. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Bindo, Alton “Bubba” Ethridge and Charles Duke.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to all the nurses and physicians at Willis-Knighton Pierremont who cared for Donnie, and a special thanks to Dr. Joseph Fredi for his deep compassion and unwavering care.
The family, in lieu of flowers, suggests memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
