Don Aaron Durr

Shreveport, LA - Services for Don A. Durr, Sr. will be at noon Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Rose-Neath South with Rev. Lowell Kenyan of River Valley Church officiating. Graveside service will be at 2 pm in Beulah Cemetery near Marthaville. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday at Rose-Neath South. Mr. Durr, 79, of Shreveport died on Saturday, April 18, 2015 after a brief illness and surrounded by his family. A native of Marthaville, Mr. Durr graduated from Northwestern State in 1957. He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for 8 years. He taught high school and coached girls basketball before working 27 years in the accounting department of Superior Supply Company in Shreveport. He spent the last 19 years working as a cashier for Brookshire\'s. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mildred Durr; his sister, Glenda Durr Covey, and brother, Wayne Durr, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Geneva Lofton Durr; brother, Kerry Durr and wife, Neval; sisters-in-law, Hilda Durr and Janette Brooks; son, Don Durr Jr. and wife, Michelle; daughter, Angela Pardue and husband Ron; and five grandchildren, Emily, Laura and Caroline Durr, and Ryan and Traci Pardue. Pallbearers will be his grandson, Ryan Pardue and nephews, Wayne Durr, Jr., Michael Durr, Len Durr, Alan Lofton, Jason Lofton, Russell Taylor and Steven Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Pardue, Terry Booty, Glenn Talbert, Bubba Winningham and Jeff Luce.
